Your sofa is dirtier than you think
Think about your sofa. Family movie nights. The dog's favorite spot. Kids eating snacks. Guests sitting down after a long day. Every bit of skin oil, sweat, food grease, and dust in the room settles into the fabric. Upholstery absorbs it all, and unlike carpet, most people never clean it — not once in ten years.
Look closely at the armrests and the headrest areas. See how they are darker than the rest? That is body oil built up over years. It does not come out with a vacuum or a damp cloth. It needs the same kind of deep extraction that carpet needs: cleaning solution worked into the fabric, then pulled back out along with the dissolved grime.
Professional upholstery cleaning does exactly that. We clean sofas, sectionals, loveseats, recliners, dining chairs, and office chairs — any upholstered furniture that has seen better days. Most pieces come out looking years younger, and they smell better too.
Different fabrics need different care
This is where upholstery cleaning gets tricky, and where experience matters. Not all fabrics can handle the same method. We identify your fabric type before we touch it.
Most modern sofas are synthetic — polyester, microfiber, nylon blends. These handle hot water extraction well, and they respond beautifully to it. Microfiber especially comes back to life: the matted, shiny-looking areas lift back up and the color evens out.
Natural fibers need more care. Cotton and linen can shrink or brown if they get too wet. Wool needs gentle, low-moisture cleaning. Velvet — cotton velvet especially — needs careful handling to avoid crushing the pile. We adjust our method, heat, and chemistry for every fabric. If a piece cannot be safely wet-cleaned, we tell you before we start, not after something goes wrong.
Leather is a different job entirely. We do not soak leather — we clean and condition it. If your "leather" sofa is actually bonded leather or vinyl, the care is different again. We check before we quote.
What we clean on every piece
Every cushion gets cleaned on all sides — fronts, backs, and the sides nobody sees. We clean the frame: arms, back, base, and the deck under the cushions where crumbs and dust collect. We vacuum first with a crevice tool to pull out everything loose, including what fell between and behind the cushions.
Then we pre-treat spots and body-oil areas, clean with the method matched to your fabric, and extract. On heavily soiled pieces we do a second pass on the worst areas. We finish by grooming the fabric so it dries evenly and looks its best.
Throw pillows get cleaned too if you want them — they collect the same oils and dust as the sofa. Just point out which ones are washable-cushion versus decorative, and we handle each appropriately.
Spots, odors, and pet damage
Food and drink spills are the most common upholstery spots, and most come out with the right chemistry. Ink is harder. Dye transfer from jeans onto light fabric is common and usually treatable. We pre-treat every spot individually instead of hoping the general clean handles it.
Odors live in upholstery just like they live in carpet. Cooking smells, smoke, pet odor, and that stale smell old furniture gets — deep extraction pulls the odor sources out of the fabric and the cushion underneath. For severe odor, we treat with enzyme solutions like our pet odor process, adapted for furniture.
Pet damage is the tough one. Claw marks that pulled threads cannot be un-pulled. But the dirt, oils, and odor that come with pets clean up well, and most pet owners are shocked at the difference. If the fabric is physically damaged, we tell you what cleaning can and cannot fix before you book.
Why Orlando furniture needs it
Florida humidity works on upholstery the same way it works on carpet — it feeds dust mites and mildew deep in cushions. If your sofa smells musty, that is often mildew in the cushion, not just surface odor. Deep extraction with proper drying fixes it.
Sunscreen and sweat are the local specialties. In Orlando, people sit down sweaty and sunscreen-covered all summer. Those oils sink into fabric fast and attract dirt. Light-colored sofas — so popular in Florida homes — show it first. Regular upholstery cleaning every year or two keeps light fabric looking light.
Our process
Tell us what pieces you have and what they are made of — photos help. We quote by the piece, and the quote is firm. On the job, we test the fabric in a hidden spot first to confirm our method is safe. Then we vacuum, pre-treat, clean, extract, and groom. We protect your floors under the furniture while we work. Before we leave, we walk through every piece with you. Every project is different — contact us for a free written estimate.
